Almirah's of all shapes and sizes were fundamental to most Indian households. They were a wardrobe of sorts, usually crafted from timber or metal, and were often used to store salt and grain in the kitchen, or saris and kantha quilts in the bedroom. The reason we love them so much is that each almirah is as unique as the home in which it came from.
Salvaged from the heart of Rajasthan, this particular 80-year-old vintage almirah would have once been used to store kitchen goods and a collection of fragrant spices and could take the place of a kitchen hutch. It was expertly crafted by hand from solid teak, its beautiful design subtly nodding to British Colonial motifs.
